HTC TYTN II

The HTC TYTN II is a touchscreen smartphone from HTC. It features a 2.8” QVGA TFT-LCD display screen with maximum screen resolution of 240×320 pixels, and a hardware QWERTY keyboard that slides in and out from under it. It has a 400MHZ Qualcomm processor and an internal memory of 128 MB RAM/256 MB ROM. Connectivity options are Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and USB. Windows mobile 6 professional is the operating system and it comes with prebundled mobile versions of various Microsoft software such as Microsoft office. The TYTN 2 is a quad band GSM phone that supports 3G, HSDPA,UMTS, GPRS and EDGE.

HTC TYTN II has a screen that can be tilted at an angle of up to 40 degrees with the hardware keyboard out. This way it looks like a small laptop and you can put it on a desk and use it like a computer without holding it. The touchscreen features HTC’s touchFLO interface and can be navigated using fingers or the included stylus for more precision. Finger scrolling and panning is also possible. The smartphone has handwriting recognition and voice recognition as well, and supports flash, Java, MMS, text messaging and multitasking. It has an inbuilt GPS receiver and inbuilt storage of 256mb that can be expanded using a MicroSD memory card. Lastly TYTN II also has a 3 MP camera with auto-focus.

The TYTN II has a few shortcomings, such as the lack of FM radio and camera flash. The 1350 mAh rechargeable battery drains fast when things such as fast Internet are used and could have had  better battery life. Another shortcoming is that the screen is not VGA. The device is also somewhat large and bulky weighing 190 gm. But despite these flaws, this is a smartphone with an excellent design, lots of options and almost any feature that one would want in a smartphone.
