Running asp.net on vista

Finally I sorted it…

Its actually really basic which is always the way.

So to start download Visual Web Developer Express 2008 - http://www.microsoft.com/express/vwd/

Soon as this is done, install it. Reason I say this is i seems to take forever !

Next follow these steps -

  1. Open the control panel (start - control panel)
  2. Select Programmes
  3. Select Turn on / Turn off windows programmes
  4. Expand IIS (Internet Information Services)
  5. Expand IIS Management Compatibility
  6. Check IIS and IIS config’ compatability
  7. Click OK!

It may have to install/configure after this.

After this open Visual Web Developer Express, if thisis the first time you have opened it it will take a while to configure.

Once complete your set to go.

Oh one last thing, its best to ‘Run as administrator’ with VWDE.
